My name is Dr. Scott Hallums and I am owner and chiropractic physician at Wheaton Chiropractic Spine & Joint Center.
I am seeing more and more patients enter my practice who are on the verge of losing their health. I do not mean this in terms of a fatality, but on the basis of becoming overweight or obese, relying more on medication, and becoming more sedentary in their lifestyle. This lifestyle can lead to chronic illnesses which include many pain syndromes. This is why incorporating an active lifestyle focused on health and wellness can benefit someone in so many different ways. Deepak Chopra recently stated, “In the last decade or so mounting research has shown how lifestyle changes, including exercise, stress management, and diet can prevent almost ninety percent (90%) of chronic illnesses in our society.”
My goal is to provide evidence based information to help individuals lead a healthier and active life. Our bodies are designed to move. Far too many people sit for the majority of their day. I recently heard from an M.D., “sitting is the new cancer.” What he meant is sitting and decreased activity causes many chronic health problems in our society and this leads to a demise in one’s health. With this blog I hope to encourage and inspire people to take control of their health and regain the ability to lead an active and enjoyable life.
